For over twenty years, Kent Barker has been recognized as one of the country's leading advertising and magazine photographers. The first half of his career was spent exclusively in advertising and fashion, photographing for such clients as Neiman Marcus, The Horchow Collection, American Airlines, Nike, TransAmerica, Four Seasons Hotels, Corona, and Anheuser-Busch. Seeking a higher level of personal expression in his work, he moved with his family to Taos, New Mexico in 1991. From there, Kent has traveled around the world photographing people and places on assignment for magazines such as Rolling Stone, Menís Journal, Town & Country, Texas Monthly, Outside, Sportís Illustrated, Kiplingerís, Fast Company and Inc. Kent is one of a small number of commercial photographers working primarily in black-and-white. He continues to process and print his own work, and since moving to Taos, has developed a number of limited edition portfolios (many of which are available at Meter). At present, Kent is focusing his personal energies into a book project about his hometown of Taos.
